About Broomfield
Located between Boulder and downtown Denver, the municipality of Broomfield lies along US 36 and covers 34 square miles. Broomfield is Colorado’s 15th largest city, and Green Mountain frequently carries out high-quality Broomfield landscaping projects.
The climate is relatively mild with an average max temperature in July (warmest month) being 87 degrees Fahrenheit and an ordinary minimum temp in December (coldest month) being 17 degrees Fahrenheit.
The name “Broomfield” is believed to have actually originated from the broomcorn grown in the region that farmers sold for the manufacturing of push brooms and whisk brooms.
After its incorporation in 1961, the municipality kept on growing and expanding across four different counties: Boulder, Jefferson, Adams and Weld. It wasn’t until the 1990’s that city leaders started talking about the concept of creating a separate county to help alleviate the complications and bureaucratic differences that were inherent with the involvement of numerous government bodies. An amendment was eventually passed in 1998 and, following a 3-year changeover, Broomfield ended up being Colorado’s 64th and smallest county in 2001.
