Why You Should Get a Sprinkler System

Convenience & Time Savings
Dragging a hose and sprinkler around your yard is highly inefficient. You have to remember to water your lawn in the first place. Assuming you do remember and turn the sprinkler on, you have to set timers to move the sprinkler throughout your back yard. Plus, if you’re trying to water your lawn during the summer months, that should be done at dawn and dusk.
You’re probably going to get wet (if not drenched) during the process.
Other problems with above ground sprinklers are that they can be inefficient. With improper sprinkler positioning, you can easily water areas that don’t need it (e.g. sidewalks and roads).
Inground sprinklers are much more targeted with their water distribution. They also generally waste much less water due to evaporation as their fine-mist spray stays low to the ground and is less likely to run off.

Landscapers and companies specializing in lawn sprinklers can install a sprinkler system on your property. The process typically takes anywhere form 1 to 3 days depending on the size of your lot.
The installation cost of an underground sprinkler system can vary greatly. The cost can range anywhere from around $2,000 for tiny lots and range up to $8,000 ore more for larger lots.

Most lots in the north Denver metro area (places like Lakewood, Thornton, Arvada, etc.) typically are on the smaller end of this price range and sprinkler systems can usually be installed for less than $5,000.

Winter Blowouts
It obvoiusly gets cold along Colorado’s Front Range during the winter months, and your sprinkler system will have to be properly winterized in order to avoid damage and/or leaks.
There are many companies that will winterize your system. This involves blowing the water out of your sprinkler system. This prevents the water from freezing, expanding and breaking pipes, sprinkler heads or your manifold. Fixing cracked pipes that are buried can be an expensive fix.
Sprinkler Maintenance
Many lawn sprinkler contractors will also fix sprinkler heads, pipes and help you to properly reconfigure your sprinkler system. Sprinkler heads can be jostled out of position by activities such as lawn mowing and may need to be periodically monitored and adjusted.
